hi all!
I have a problem installing the themes all together. I had litestep installed when i was running an older OS with no trouble at all but on my win2000 pc i can't get it goin. not to mention i'll be putting it on my other pc runnin XP. I checked through the forum and had no luck so far.
I downloaded a few themes and when i go to intall em, they keep giving an error. it says the theme was not installed and would i like to see the log. I thought at first it might be a bad theme but its with all of them that it goes on.
please please help!!!
Install an OTS2 theme instead of an OTS1 theme. If you would have bothered to look at the log you would have known it...but I mean...yer a PC geek...who needs to read logs.
wellll......ummm...thanks....i guess. last i checked this was a forum. like where you can get help, not snapped at. i guess now i'll definately look closer to avoid coming here. I didnt mean to stop your world just for you to answer my question. god knows i stop and answer the same questions over and over again in my forum over counter strike packs and mods. still...i keep in mind that we're just people and answer em with respect.
you did help in two ways though. answered my question and made me not wanna come back. thanks
its bad when users can't even look at the top news post...2 sticky threads...or 40 billion other threads on the subject.
don't be an ass. I asked to look at the log when it asked if i wanted to and the log never came up so take the dick out of your ass dude.
lsumarkb: please email me: ohussain-AT-hotmail-DOT-com, I need more info. about the log not opening error.

what is it with some *** people? they *** have to say *** all the time, it's so *** annoying, just *** ***!!!
btw, ***!
Sorry but i don't think Devilboi had to answer like that. He could have answered his question and then asked for others to look at other examples before posting. Its a simple thing to do.
Devil Boi had no clue what the other guys situation was. My logs don't come up after I ask to see them. Omar is working on the problem but for now we have to ask here so I would like to be able to get an answer without sarcasm.
well, yah, i shouldn't have answered in such manner either, but i did. and i know why i did it. it's because i don't like when people call each other "***". one can swear, but saying bad things about people/things u don't even know... that's just not right.
i'm not trying to say that what dev wrote was nice, but that's just the way he is seeing it... and believe me, answering to the same question 10 or more times in a row can be really frustrating, annoying, even irritating.
Yea i realize that. O well its over and done with. No use crying over spilled milk.
I just wanted to point out that there was no problem with the LS Theme Installer, the text editor on the system in question had been set to Adobe GoLive which apparently, cannot open the plain text log files. ;)
Setting notepad as text editor resolved the issue. (I like ultraedit myself, but there's lots of notepad alternatives out there. :P)
Dev slams everyone in here and is not to social in my opinion.
Reading logs is usually a good place to start if you want to even try to solve a problem yourself.
I have just upgraded to version 3 of the installer and have the same problem. I am definitely using an OTS2 theme with a clean install (both Win2K and installer). Here is the installer log for all to see.
Hmm, Didn't post correctly for some reason, Here's the complete log...

UnRed Dave :: yeah i had that problem with the Thin theme too.
A simple workaround is to unzip the theme into ur themes folder.
Then got to the Litestep change theme menu and use refresh list.
It will then show the THIN theme in the list. Choose from there and it will work fine.:)
the problem with the theme is that the line OTSMajorVersion 2 has a typo in it, so if you unzip it and correct that line, then zip it back up, it should work
OK.
143lsstep - I've tried your workaround, the theme displays and partially loads but it doesn't fully work. The background image for the bar doesn't load and the popup is broken.
doy - I've tried that route, even gone so far as to cut and paste the major/minor version text from Austerity (which I know works) No dice.
Just curious, what is the purpose of these lines of code and why are they such an integral part of the process that it can cause themes to not load?
It is such an integral part because as advancements are made in the OTS standard they will not have to break compatability, but just add support based on Version.
