Umm, i've browsed all the themes in the litestep theme gallery and I've been unimpressed by all of them. There are just a few that are decent but even then they still need work. Are there any decent skinners out there making shells for litestep or is this just a thing of the past with noobs combining other peoples work with no common themes or respect for color combinations?

Ummm why not create your own and show them how it's "really" done? There are a few which I like on there, a lot are the same, some don't make too much sense. But why come on here to complain about it? Why not just go... ok... this isn't for me and just leave?... what good does this do?...

Virgo, define "good theme?" What's your basis for comparison? Have you actually "tried" any of the themes? (believe me, there's a lot the screenshot doesn't relay).

BTW: LiteStep's a shell replacement. You don't make shells for it, you make themes.

Some people just have to find something wrong with everything.

I think a lot of the themes are Great! in the beginning, but the further people develope some of them the less time they spent on the details that make them look really good.

Hrmmm... i don't really like any of the themes, but that's just my personal taste. I'm a minimalist that likes the color flat black for my desktop interface without the gothic/industrial/spooky touch.

However, instead of complaining I'm working on my own project (slowly but surely) that I hope to upload whenever I can be satisfied with it. That way those that share my taste can find something that they like.

If you can't find anything you like, make something, and post it so if there is somebody like you they'll be able to find something that catches their eye.

Well, there's few ugly themes made by children who only use mspaint.exe for the gfx...
But there's a lot of pieces of art made by talented genious.
And litestep is not only a story of skins and eye candies, it's a powerfull tool that can make your life easier. But I guess you can't know that...

Then there are also people who make beautiful themes with mspaint. I dont remember who but i saw an incredible theme that was made with only mspaint and i was really impressed. Whenever i change graphics in themes i use mspaint :)

I agree, lots of crappy themes. In fact, you might think that of mine, too. That's life. IMO, too much eye candy and wasting valuable pixels.
Litestep is highly configurable...make a theme that is everything you want and nothing you don't. It isn't always easy, particularly when you find new features you like interfere with old habits :), but you can get there.

check out deviantart.com...lots of themes to choose from or if you're working on your own theme perhaps the ones you see there may help
