Bizarre CPU Usage Thread last updated on 2003-09-29 01:36:20

Hi folks,

I've used Litestep a few times before, and I have to admit, I think it makes Windows almost usable ;)

After I installed recently I got a strange problem on Win98SE.

CPU usage is constantly showing as 98% or higher.

I've had a dig through and it appears to be including the idle time on the cpu into the display.

Is there any way I can adjust the CPU monitor so that it will ignore idle time?

What theme and modules are you using?

This is using the default 'Simplicity' theme. Straight install, first or second boot with only evar config changes..

Try commenting out different modules and then reset your comp. If that doesn't do anything, check the apps you have executed on startup and remove them one by one to see if that makes a difference too.

you dont have to restart the computer each time you comment out a module, a !recycle would do just fine

I am not sure but I think the rainmeter.dll is far from accurate when you use it on Win9x. If you are looking at a rainmeter powered cpu meter just ignor it. It's a sure bet it is wrong. Maybe someone else can comment on rainmeter and Win9x issues.

Yah, I'm coming to that conclusion.

I loaded a process monitor, and with nothing else running but Litestep, i showed 98% idle. Litestep was still showing 98% used...

Gotta love 9x.
