hi,
yes im a noob.
i dont think ive done anything wrong, but i just installed the newest ost ls installer from omar hussein, and after that i installed the newest indie litestep files into the litestep folder. but everytime when i boot i get the error:

Run DLL as an APP error ....ive tried looking for other people having the same problem..but nobody does!

so any help would be definitley appreciated, as i really want to replace my memory hogging explorer. Thanks!

The copy of LS that comes with omar's installer is newer than the IndieStep build you "upgraded" to. So for starters I would reinstall everything and start over. Secondly...it would be nice to know what the error reads so that we could try and troubleshoot it.

well the reason I downloaded the indiestep too was because in the readme introduction to the installer, it said this:

- ATTENTION -- There is a conflict of sorts between the beta of 0.24.7
included in the installer and taskbar3.dll on Windows 9x, so you will
experience problems with taskbars. This issue will be resolved with the
next beta of 0.24.7. Until that time, Windows 9x users should use the
latest indiestep build available:

ill post the error in a bit.

and Devilboi, i installed ls with omar's installer first, and still received the error. then i upgraded witth the indielite and still had the same problem. while i dont see any problems as a result of this error, i still would like it fixed. thanks.

so you are installing a build to get around a problem on an operating system you dont even run? yah...that sounds right. *shakes his head*

Anyways...it sounds like something that is in your startup depends on explorer to be there. Do you have anything funny in your system tray in explorer?

i think i fixed it. i have an ibm laptop, and theres a battery power meter next to the taskbar that loads at startup. i disabled it with msconfig. and no problems now.
