oh and what about all the long lost modules that were forgotten like popup... it would be cool if there was like some blackbox diagonal style option. the wharfs so old i think its dieing to be updated sameway somehow. i was happy to see that vtray out that thing kix arse..

I consider wharf dead, not dieing. It wasnt included in the ots stuff so that makes it dead imo..

umm... what's so buggy about the vwms? I currently use bbvwm which is fine, and I haven't had problems with rabidvwm or bangvwm either... I think that the selection of vwms out there pretty much does everything you need in this sort of module.

that's just my opinion though. Maybe you could be a little more specific about the bugs and things you're missing.

i've found that the 24.7 betas have problems with maximized windows and vwm's (the windows follow the active desktop if you're moving left on a hoziontal-only setup--winxp[pro], 24.7b3). other than that, they're all beautiful.

A friend of mine had the same "windows follow the active desktop" bug. Interestingly enough it was fixed when he installed windowblinds. I'm not really sure what causes it though, do you have windows updated all the way? I use RabidVWM on 24.7b3 with no problems.

lol, i'm running rabidvwm 1.01 on 24.7b3 (over the 20030513 indie build), fully updated winxp[pro].

The "windows follow the active desktop" apparently happens if you use XP styles. I can't confirm this since I don't have XP, but I've read it in this forum before. Then it would even make sense that windowblinds fixed the problem. ^_^

i don't use xp styles.

o wait, you meant the native stuff. nevermind.
hmm...i wonder if shellwm fixes it...

it's true. turn off themes (just disable the theme service), and the problem goes away. and no, I haven't heard about a fix for it yet.

"we neeed more vwm modules dammit..."

What for? I only use one at a time.

vwm2 has dissappearing windows, bbvwm is the best in my opinion other then the fact that it doesnt skin a actual vwm. rabid is ok also but my windows also disappear. sysvwm is the best skinnable one. ckvwm doesnt even work with the 24.7 beta 3 so um that kinda sux. rabidvwm is cool but it has been forever since it was even updated. WHAT ABOUT THE POPUP BB STYLE.

Posted by member 36955 on 2003-08-21 18:37:49 link

odd... i use ckvwm with the 24.7 beta3 with no problems whatsoever

Posted by member 1365 on 2003-08-21 20:31:59 link

i stand corrected... but what about the popup

Posted by member 1316 on 2003-08-22 16:29:56 link

what about it? my popup seems to work fine. and my only problem with rabidvwm is that it sometimes takes focus away from whatever program I'm using at the time.

Posted by member 1365 on 2003-08-22 17:27:47 link

ya thats what im talking about the freaggin window goes flying somewhere but i just right click then its back kinda odd.. doesnt happen with ck though i love ck. What im talking about the popup is the diagnoal gradient option like in the blackbox popup is that all possible?

Posted by member 1365 on 2003-08-22 17:29:46 link

the wharf will never be dead!!!!!!!

I'm not sure...post a link to the blackbox theme, so I can see what you're talking about.

For everybody who has had troubles with VWMs, I recommend using ckVWM. I used to have all sorts of trouble especially if I used any more than 5 desktops; plus my adobe menus would go with me to whichever desktop was active. Switching from sysVWM to ckVWM has straightened everything out.

My question is with the VWMs, how the heck are you supposed to load certain programs on certain desktops!? It's listed in the docs that it can be done but, I'll be damned if I can get it to work...

I've had problems with vwm2 requiring a recycle before they display anything. If I don't, the system eventually freezes up. I think that was also happening with ckvwm 1.34.

Posted by member 2018 on 2003-09-23 22:45:37 link

i recommend rabidvwm personally

Posted by member 1316 on 2003-09-24 15:53:07 link

all of them have their bugs. rabidvwm keeps giving programs on different desktops focus, and ckvwm doesn't always give focus back to the last program used on a desktop after switching back to it.
