I'm an NEW, Is there a good theme for me to learn with in. Thread last updated on 2003-08-15 17:09:56

I've tried several of the themes, The one built into the installer is nice. BUT I want to alter it alittle and make it better for my use, I'm after fuction right now and I'll worry about how it looks later.

I'm still reading serveral sources abut the themes I have are still alittle too complex for me.

I have some coding experiance, mostly html and very little java.

C and C++ are beyond my understanding at the moment.

Recap,
Is there a good simple theme that is both easy operate and alter?

well, the first theme i really messed with was chaos by omar, although i would suggest using the remix style, as it doesnt have as much complex scripting... coding experience isnt really necessary to mess with themes, although scripting experience would be helpful if you want to do anything major

My Litescape 3.0 is supposed to be easy to use and alter. I don't know if I succeeded in making it that way but it would be great if you wanted to try it out and let me know what you think on that.

ok, I see about that, I'm learning, I've arlready abandoned the Evar program that does the Evars for my popup, I love this Shell.

I didn't want to clutter.
I see many people use WindowBlinds and stuff of that kind. What's the best free version?
I got the trial for WindowBlinds and it's "ok" but I'm on a Win98 system right now.

on win98 you could use ShellWM. that's completely freeware :)

ShellWM looks good , I treid it anc it crashes the windows I open. Is is for Win98SE because I just have 98

that shouldn't matter. does it crash all windows or just certain ones?

try the win95 version, that might work. there have been recent reports of the latest version not working on win98 (check out the chatterbox on the shellwm site), so you could try an earlier version as well.

I the earlier ones but I havn't tried 95. it crashes all windows. I get this error.

I just found out, It's a real bug and they are woking on it.
