Okay, I've got a friend who always complained about explorer, so I converted him to become a litestep user, but hes run into a problem I've never seen before. Things were working fine for a while, he found a theme he liked etc. But, then his systray started to disappear. And he can't get it to load.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Has he ever installed DesktopX before?

Not that I know of.

well, if he has, desktopx installs a little app that takes control of the systray, which causes this type of problem. double check with him.

Sounds like the theme he is using now isn't configured with variables that match his system. Try using the theme simplicity. If no problems occur with that then its a problem with the theme he wants to use.

I also have this problem... Deuce, I have installed desktop x at one point in time, however, I have since uninstalled it? Is there something else I should be doing?

I searched through the forums and found some articles that made mention of this problem being solved by updating to the latest stable indie build, which I have done. However, some of the applications are still not appearing in the system tray. Specifically,

Miranda IM
Apache ( The Monitor )
Direct Update ( for http://www.dyndns.com )
Internet Connection Manager

I'm using the stock theme, Simplicity, the one packaged with LiteStep.

TIA,

I solved my problem by running msconfig and turning off "trayserver.exe" under the 'startup' control tab. Maybe you might want to look for something similar...

yes, that's the system tray program installed by desktopx that screws with litestep's systray modules.
