Litestep as normal user in XP Thread last updated on 2003-02-12 01:50:49

Is there another way of making Litestep work without problems without meddling with the registry? I set permissions as admin allowing keys related to Litestep be read and written by me, normal user, but when i log as admin again and back as normal user something happens and I get that message about stepsets.dll again...

i'm running xp and havent had any problems yet, did you download an installer, and set it for shell for current/all users?

No... i've downloaded the lsdev build ...

The indiestep build, i say... and set The shell manually in the registry...

in Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon it's the only way i found to install Litestep as the shell because, if i make the change only in Current User, Explorer always wants to take over the shell...

if you download the installer from http://www.beyondconvention.net/ohussain/installer_downloads.shtml , you won't have to enter anything into the registry, unless you want to, and explorer won't be so damn greedy.

I'll try it out... Thanks... For now the problem seems to have gone away, it seems to be not a persistant problem...

running Indie LS once as an admin user (even w/o setting it as the shell, just doubleclick litestep.exe) should fix those stepsets.dll problems
