Wrong extension on the theme Noir.. [noir]_210-4.zip Thread last updated on 2003-07-25 20:12:51

I tried to download the file [noir]_210-4.zip, but when I tried to open it I got the message "the file is damaged". (or something like that).

Then I try to open the file with a hex editor and I see It is just a picture. I rename the extension to .jpg and open it. Then I see a picture of my theme..

Can you please upload a real zip-file for this theme?

Thank You

you would probably have to ask the theme author to re-upload it.

have you tried renaming the file to .zip instead of .zip.php? Mozilla seems to like to tack on .php for some reason and that would give you a problem. But with the amount of people that have downloaded the theme it is not a theme problem.

devilboi, I actually tried to download it yesterday, and had the same problem. and it actually was still a .zip file.

strange someone within this same thread is complaining about other parts of the theme, and is a self-described n00b so I am sure (s)he just downloaded. Since we don't allow people to update themes and some 3000 people have downloaded the theme...I have to be firm in saying user error.

I've had a few people report that my theme's ZIP file is password protected or that it's corrupted. This was regardless of what site they downloaded from. I tried to see if there was a pattern between the users but most of them ignored my request for more details. I suspect my ZIP utility produces ZIP files that aren't compatiable with some other ZIP utilities.

I don't know. I use winzip 8.1 shareware, if that helps. and dev, no offense, but I don't see how it could be user error. you download a file, go to it, double-click it, and you get an error saying it's not a valid archive. there's not too much I could have screwed up. and, I also tried downloading noir with 3 different browsers (Opera 7.11, Firebird, and IE6SP1) since I've had a couple issues downloading ZIP's with Opera before. but I had the same result each time, "not a valid archive".

Ill try and talk to morph...but with the amount of downloads it has to be something funny like DrWorm said.
