NEED HELP WITH TRANSPARENCY! Thread last updated on 2003-07-22 01:11:30

Im realy pissed with shortcut2 and the other 4 modules I been trying to use to make Shortcut2 groups transparent.
these other modules are LayerCuts, GrdTransparent, LsTrasparent, and Shortcut3.Ive listed the problems with each below.

LayerCuts: this module worked fine until I found out about
it messing with Shortcut2's ability to show and hide other Shortcut groups.

GrdTransparent: it only makes whole modules trasparent not
single groups from Shortcut2.

LsTrasparent: Same as above.

Shortcut3:I guess im dumb because I cant figure out how to make transparency on that either.I read the manule, under the flags section it shows how to make Transparency and True
Transparency(I already tried making true transparency with photoShop) but I cant make it work.

My theme realy relys on transparency (I would prefer True transparency, it looks better)and if anyone could tell me how that would be nice.

but why do you use shortcut2 and layercuts at the same time? layercuts is somewhat an alpha-transparent replacement for shortcut2 and i don't think they're ment to be loaded at the same time.

Im usin' XP, ya I see what you mean with it being a repalcment for shortcuts, Still the Layercuts screwed up the showing and hiding of my other shourcut groups

which other? you have only layercuts loaded, right? you have shortcut groups. you hide them and unhide them? how does it screw up? (sry if i'm talking weird stuff again. had a really awsome party last night, so now i'm having a hangover :P)

I only have layercuts loaded and the groups do things that they are not comanded to do

ex. Hide group #7 will hide #7 and #1

and when I change states in my theme, like moving bar bottom to bar top

well that's weird :-/

Layercuts definitely has some Z-order issues (likes to be on-top of everything else). You don't have any scripts working in the background that could be activating this behavior, do you?

Last night I got fed up with the problem so I redid my whole theme (the way the theme works). Instead of having complicated custom bang commands that change files and reload single modules, I just made 4 differnt config directories and 4 bangs to rule which one is active.

so that fixed problems with layercuts, for now.
I found a bug, X-prop wont show layercuts. Damnnnnnn
