for some reason or another (...) litestep was deleted from harddisc and as a result of that i now get an error saying "error finding litestep.exe please re-install windows" after which thet system shuts down.

is that really necessary or does anybody know a way of ignoring this message?

trying to start up windows in safe mode or via dos etc. had no success because i get the message that the system could not find himem.sys...(which still exists)

i have 98 se.

change your system.ini file in windows directory
section [boot]
in shell replace value c:\litestep\litestep.exe for
shell=explorer.exe
