Extreme longshot Thread last updated on 2003-07-14 08:12:24

I've got litestep installed on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. The laptop has some extra buttons to increase and decrease the volume and has some secondary functions on the page up/down buttons to be used in conjunction with a function key. These don't work and so the only way I can change volume is to manually open the volume control window. I thought at first this might be a driver issue so I updated all associated drivers. No luck. Then I thought it might be litestep....bingo. I went back to explorer and the buttons worked fine.
So it seems litestep is causing this issue. Anyone using litestep on a dell inspiron and managed to get this to work or does anyone have any idea how I could solve this?

Like the title suggests this is a long shot but I would be very greatful for any input in the matter.

Thanks in advance.

All "extra buttons" on all keyboards do not work under LS as they do under exploder. You will need to setup jKey in your personal config to get those buttons to work again.

This was talked about last week in THIS thread.

Fair enough, thats a step in the right direction. Now though....how would I go about finding the Hex code specific to these buttons, would I have to contact Dell for this or are there any apps that could tell me?

Actually it seems that jkey isn't the solution. Unless I'm severly mistaken you have to use a Modification Key and you can't define your own mod keys so that makes my Function key useless.
Back to the drawing board.

read the whole thread and throw away the drawing board.

Yea sorry, I did read the whole thread after posting the 2 messages and now have the key codes sorted and it's so close to working perfectly. The problem is still the mod key. ilmcuts says he is using .none in v0.37 however the latest version on http://jugg.logicpd.com/ is 0.36 and .none does not work. I've downloaded the source of 0.36 and will attempt to modify it myself but I'm not too familiar with c.

Sorry if the previous messages sounded rude. They weren't intended to be, I was just a bit stressed with this and some other things.

Hehe, wasn't expecting it to be on other web pages since it wasn't on the shellfront modules page or the authors page so I didn't search on google. :-)

Thanks both...I'll try not to be so lame with any more questions I might have.
