In litestep is it possible to use an animated gif as a button? Say as the start button with a possible mouse over action? Also just a quick inquiry...it is possible to use an animated gif as wallpaper..right?

you cannot use animated gifs, but you can do animation. an older module called rainmation will do such a thing. i beleive layercut or lsdynamic may also support animation.

"Say as the start button with a possible mouse over action?"

Shortcut2 does have the feature to display a different graphic when you hover the mouse over the button. But as the others said, it doesn't support animated GIF's.

how hard would it be to create module for this?

hard because you have to pay for a per user license for the GIF decompression...least that is what I thought kept GIF out of the LS core.

I know many freeware programs utilize GIF. Is it that the license only has to be paid for non-profit stuff or is it that the makers of those just don't care?
