stimpy is helping lsxcommand. It's desperate. Thread last updated on 2003-07-20 02:45:08

would someone that knows what they're doing be willing to help lsxcommand? It's a wonderful and well known module, but its transparency needs help. everyone knows that skinning it is a bad idea (it flickers worse than a Pyralis firefly on crack), and there's no good way to apply transparency to it. From what i've heard, these problems stem from the way that the text box is drawn (something about using a stardard textbox, i lost the email...)

Would someone be willing to rewrite the text-box portion of LSXcommand?

I have to admit I'd love to see someone adopt LSXCommand and start actively (re)developing it, I was under the impression that the source code was lost though...

I am currently rewriting a lot of lsxcommand. Once I get it up and running I'll entertain additional fixes and enhancements :)

It is an unwritten law in the LS community to contact the original author/current maintainer of a module before releasing a modification (especially after the ckvwm 1.32b disaster). I've never released a module before the author gave his "ok". Sometimes the original authors have their own plans with a module and might ask you to choose a different name, or sometimes they send you fixes they never released. The original author might also already be working on the next version. You wouldn't know that without getting in touch. There are a few more reasons, but that should be enough.

Visigoth has been contacted and I'm continuing the work on it. I don't have any eta on it since I'm fighting time to get a class done right now.
