When useing Avant Browser their all kind of possible
bugs, in simplicity it dosen't appear on the task bar
or the systray or even tasks entey in pop-up,
When minimizing Avant it becomes a real problem couse you
can't access to it unless you Ctrl-Alt-Del to Task Manager
and right click to bring it to front. need's confirmation -
please post to confirm, deny, quary or add any usefull
information on the subject.
can you not do alt+tab?
try using a *TasksAdd feature (or something like that, it should be in the readme - adds a tasks tile for specific classes)
Thankes,
another thing NOT WORKING to add to the list
so, you'r saying something about that *TasksAdd ?
To me it sounds like the Avant Browser is not registering its task with windows like it should. Especially if it doesn't show up in the ALT+Tab list considering that is still done by windows. Also if the browser does not show up properly in two different modules I would lean more to the app than LS.
It's possible, but since Avant isn't open-source and i'm not
a programmer I wouldn't know.
if it's a moduleing bug then this might be of some use:
sys-tray = systray2.dll
task-bar = taskbar3.dll ;taskbar3 0.303
Should note that when avant isn't minimized it does appear
when useing alt-tab.
I've seen this too. Some programs go into hiding when they are minimized and cannot be invoked with Alt-Tab anymore (LeechFTP for example, if I remember correctly). The point howver is that all of these programs I've seen do put their icon into the systray for easy access, nullifying the possible harm caused.
And... when you know that the LS systray just fails to show some things it should (the Windows update -screen for example) and add 1 + 1... well, it was to be expected that something like this happens.
Usually, when faced by problems like that, I look into finding a less buggy program, it seems that there's nothing you can do.
latest systrays fix the update problem :)
Warma - The systray and the taskbar don't show the task;
Egonz - I got the systray2.dll that comes with LiteStep 24.6
if their any better (alpha, beta, release, stable, unstable
or whatever!!!) please post the location so i will test it
out.
Summary:
1.no confirmations or denys
2.a module version claim has been raised but since two
modules are involved this is unacceptable for now but does
raises a quastion of aither karnel bug or usage of simaler
code (and compiler - since as far as i know litestep was
compiled on Microsoft Visual Studio (TM ?) 6.0 and not
7.0/7.10 the problem might be specific on xp but since their
are no other reports on simaler problem with simaler software
then nothing is proven yet.
NiceguyRK - What I tried to say is that sometimes the systray just fails to show the icons what it should, I've seen this a couple of times (it is in no way an unique bug, but I have no idea which causes it or what these programs have in common).
What does the Avant Browser do, is it irreplaceable for you? Does it have an option to prevent minimizing into systray?
it was fixed in 2003-04-29 release. download that or a later release from
lsdev@shellfront.
update only your systray or the whole build. it's up to you :)
Warma - ok, thankes Warma, it does has some options of that sort and i will look in to thous.
Egonz - i'll check it out, i usally avoid beta stuff
( "independent development" - it even sounds risky ) but i
guess i'll just have to take the risk.
Success !!!
Sullotion:
Install latest indie build (http://www.shellfront.org/lsdev/)
Set Avant to show tray icon but not to minimize to it !!!
This will show avant in the sys-tray but will not successed in showing it in the task bar or the alt -tab bar.
thankes goes to:
pika - For finding the problem in the alt-bar too.
DeViLbOi - For puting the finger on avant registering the
icon incorrectly.
Egonz - For recommanding the to update to indie (updates the
modules + litestep).
Warma - For recommanding to go over avant's settings.
