Hello Everyone! I just installed litestep and everything was going just fine until I tried to install a theme. I have read quite a few of the posts related to this and have come across several which say get the OTS themes. Where can I find these?

Most themes on ls.net are OTS themes. Or try to be :) Perhaps you should describe your problem. Make sure you search the forum first though. If you ask a question that gets asked every week here you will likely to become instantly unpopular.

One thing that I really do not care for is that many of the themes will not work at resolutions higher than 800x600. I run 1600x1200 or 1800x1440. It is so difficult to find anyone with a good theme (for any operating system) that runs that high.

As far as the problems are concerned, many of the themes will not install, or if they do, I usually wind up with only the Windows Desktop wallpaper showing and have to do the ole 3 finger salute where I can then uninstall litestep and revert back to the standard Windows Desktop.

Search the forums and get your answer.

"... themes will not work at resolutions higher than 800x600"

Exactly where are you getting your themes from? I must admit, I've only downloaded 6 themes but all were designed to handle monitors greater than 800 x 600. Usually it's the other way around. It sounds like you a downloading old themes and if that's the case then they probably aren't OTS compliant.

"... then uninstall litestep and revert back..."
Ummm... yes. That's one way. Another way would be to read the docs and search the forums. You will find it's very easy to recover LS when a theme doesn't work correctly.

I did read the docs, but I found it faster for me to perform the uninstall then reinstall. Mainly due to the speed of my computer. Windows XP boots in about 25 seconds. It takes less time then that to uninstall/reinstall.

If you want to uninstall and re-install LS everytime a theme doesn't work on your system then good luck to you, sir :D

Well, quite honestly, I don't. I would rather solve the problem with the theme then have to do a reinstall all the time. What I don't get is why people will post a theme that just doesn't work? The only reason I am trying to install any of the themes is because of the wallpapers that are displayed in the preview pics.

Question: Is there anything else I should install (that would help) besides the base LiteStep?

That would help what? If you mean stability then I recommend you download indie litestep. You'll find it in the download section.

I had a reply for that...but nobody would have liked it. But no...you don't need to install anything else LS related to make things work. You just need to read the 50 posts in the forums about why you are having this problem.

WARNING: If anyone posts a link to, or gives, the answer to this problem I will ban your account and there will be no second chance.

I am not here to cause problems for anyone nor am I here to pester someone with a recurring error that so far, I have not found the answer to. If I cannot find the answer in the forums then I will post one more question to be pointed in the right direction. If that does not solve the problems that I am encountering, then I will uninstall LiteStep and forget about the entire thing. Thank you for the help that you have given me already.
