hi, im a newbie here too (got litestep today), but i've just found out that you can use the "Desktop Themes" to change the wallpaper, just remember to uncheck all the things you don't want to change, or it ends up looking strange...
there is probably a better, more litestep specific way of doing this, but that's all i can see for now

I'm having the same problem, and control panel > display > background doesn't work. And I've tried all different kinda of wallpapers, and none of them work :( please help?

I think it may have something to do with win2k? My friend just installed it today, useing the same files and he can change bg just fine :( He's on XP btw..

u can't use .jpg cause those are displayed by exploder's active desktop. convert the walls to .bmp or use a wallpaper module like lswchanger.dll

egonz, sorry to disagree, but you actually can use jpg's. at least on XP. I am right now, and my themes service is even disabled(just one less thing to tie up resources!). however, the difference probably is XP vs. 2k. if you want to use jpg's with litestep, then run XP(lswchanger doesn't support jpg images either; running 2k, I used to use it on my old 2k box). if you don't care, then convert them to bmp's.

I thought I would point out that lswchanger version 1.1 does support JPG files along with BMP, PCX and PNG.

woops, sorry egonz. I guess I should have mentioned the version I had been using was about 6-9 months old. :(
