Well here's how it happened...
I download Litestep...everything works just fine. I'm installing themes and seeing which one I like best. Then, I choose LiteStepThemeChanger to change and the user interface gets erased, only the background is there. I click CTRL ALT DEL to see if anything is running. Nope. So I decided to uninstall LiteStep, through CTRL ALT DEL options. Uninstalls. I restart. Go into my old explorer. Nothing is their, just the background. I accessed NETSCAPE through CTRL ALT DEL. Can someone please help me get my theme back?
There is no magical uninstall for LS like you describe, you need to actually edit your registry to pull it out. To fix your LiteStep theme you will need to go into the LiteStep Theme Changer and edit the properties for your theme. You will find the step.rc under a different name. Now if you would have read the 20 other forum posts on this you could have found the answer on your own.
I ran uninstall.exe from the litestep directory and it told me it was set back to explorer as the shell. I couldn't fix the LiteStep theme because there was nothing to click. Just a background with no options. I did read a few other forum posts. Now I jsut wanna know how to get my start button etc back on explorer shell.

Do the install instructions for 2K backwards and replace LiteStep with the full path to your explorer.exe and you should be golden.
I had the same problem - fortunately my keyboard has short cut key to Internet Explorer so was able to find the uninstall in the litestep directory and have managed to get back good old Microssft desktop. As for Litestep - straight in the bin!! What a dangerous program!!
There are about 40 or 50 threads on this problem. If you can't read through the site to find them then we can't help you.
aaarrgghhh :@
can't that f****n' buggy lsts be annihilated off this planet!!??? and replaced with the fixed version??? how do n00bs still get hold of the old version?
i declare a war against the buggy lsts and cry that everyone, who knows where to get it, would notify the webmasters of those sites to update that... that.. evil thing!!
ok, actually lsts is a really great program, but this problem is getting so old and nothing (except the release of a fixed version) has been done to eliminate it, so let's stop sharing that bug. let us give n00bs a nice non-buggy lsts instead :)
I'm sure other people have requested it, but I just sent omar an e-mail requesting he put out a new version of his installer, with the fixed lsts included.
