New User - Can't get clearsky theme to work Thread last updated on 2003-10-19 14:54:43

Hello,

I'm new at litestep, so I don't really know where to start. I try to load the clearsky theme with the litestep theme switcher, and all I get is a screen with the small, square wallpaper displayed in the center, surrounded by the background color. No right click start menu, or anything. I have looked around at the step.rc and theme.rc file and have compared them to other themes, and have fiddled with them a little bit, but I really don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do to get the theme working?
Thanks!

do you have an ots distro (omar's installer is an ots)... because this theme isn't calssified for the distro... maybe it's that

try with another theme

check the lsts version you have (there's a bug in the older version that shows the behavior you described when trying to load a theme without a .thm file), or else go into lsts, and make sure the theme has step.rc specified as the step, as opposed to something like sdtp.rc (in the theme settings).

Deuce, you're a genious! I checked out the settings, and sure enough the step was specified as sdstep (or something), so I switched it to step.rc, and it works great! Thanks a million!

ok, I have a similar problem, but I don't understand what you mean by "specified as," would you care to enlighten me?

ok, let me go through this step by step for you. *glares menacingly* open your popup, then go to litestep->change theme->lsts. when lsts comes up, hold your mouse over the theme you're having a problem with. when the display to the right changes to reflect the correct theme, click on "edit settings". then on the next window, in the "step" field, make sure it says step.rc. that should do it. if not, then get the updated lsts.
