well, I'm running XP here, installed litestep
not long ago. But I run rambooster ( it's some
memory management program ) to help me manage
my memory - it runs fine when I use explorer,
where my memory would hangs at around 60%

but as I installed litestep I found that my system
gets really slow for some unknown reason. Just now
I try to turn rambooster off and my memory went to
like 70% right on. just like to share this info, in
case someone else is in the same situation as I am.

;p

I had the same problem on my old 2000 box. I was actually running memturbo though. I stopped it from running, and my system's performance improved. not by a huge amount, but that's mainly because the hard drive is dying a slow death.

There is another thread running on memory usage and "Lite"ness. In there there is a good description of memory and how your PC uses it. Now...many RAM "Boosting" applications will "free-up" memory that is not in use but requested by applications. Doesn't seem like a bad idea until applications like LiteStep use that memory often and have to reallocate or deal with what it has "slowing" things down. Best bet...let your PC manage your memory for a bit and see how out of hand it gets.
