I'm kind of new to this and am tweaking the theme that came with the installer alittle. AkA- Theme [Simplicity]. I want to know how to make the normal desktop ontop of the theme. What i mean is how do i make it so that i can drag items into the background/desktop and like have icons on the background that i can use... such as a normal desktop while retaining the modules of the right click and the new toolbar / stuff like that.
That is not possible with LiteStep at this time...sorry.
well, you could run LS on top of explorer, won´t be a shell replacement then though ...
but i've seen themes where u can have icons on the desktop... something like that... i just want to be able to put my icons of programs i use on the desktop for easy use but simplicity wont let me! Thanks
such as simplicity has the quick launch thingy that shows the icons of programs that i put in the quick launch before but the space is too small and doesn't show all the programms...
to the left.... icons... stuff...
There are 3 or 4 modules that will let you show icons from your desktop. (or just about anywhere else for that matter) I believe they all have different bugs, so one of them might work. I see nexDeskIcon, FolderView, and DeskFolders on loose-screws. I have no idea how well/if they all work.
Its prolly just best to make a shortcut if you are going to go through all that BS.
deskfolders.dll is the only one i have found to be reliable, i.e no crashing etc. on 9x or NT/2k/XP. i don't recall if ndi had stability issues, but iirc it's not as useable as deskfolders.
deskfolders's in simplicity - and it's on by default too, with room for eight icons to be shown on the desktop. if you need more than eight, edit the deskfolders section of config\base.rc
the icons that will be displayed on the desktop (in simplicity, other themes may vary :|) are in yourLiteStepDir\shortcuts.
hope that helps. :P
yeah LS needs a good deskicon replacement for explorer.
My friend stopped using LS because he liked drawing squares on his desktop when he got bored (ahahahha).
Heh, maybe we just need a module that'll let you draw little squares on the desktop then ;)
Just open an explorer window to an empty folder, hit F11 to enter full screen mode, and select away. It's a built in "feature" of the file manager. Save yourself the trouble of coding another module, RabidCow. =P
