[Q] How do I change the icons on the desktop? Thread last updated on 2003-06-01 15:14:44

hello?

I'm trying to build my own theme here.
I chose to use "deskfolders.dll" to place icons on the desktop, but I don't know whether I can change icons.

Is there a way that I can assign different icons on different folders? (First of all, is this possible using "deskfolders.dll"?)

If what I'm trying to do is not possible using "deskfolders.dll", please tell me what module can do it and where to get it.

Looking forward to great replies. Thanks.

well deskfolders is old now now the newest one is icondesk A lot of people have problems with version .5 so try .4 but it you want to change icons for specific folder try right clicking them in explorer and selecting the change icon part it should translate out to the modules

.4 has a nasty memory hole that consumes about 100megs a second if you specify an invalid path, so watch out for that. I don't think .5 has that problem and I've never found anything else bad with it.

So should I use .5 or .4? confused... ;;;

Well in my opinion .5 is better because I haven't experienced any problems with it. Go for that and if you can't get it to work then use .4 instead. Just remember then to have valid paths. If not LS will stop loading and your machine will get all wierd. If that happens just kill LS with ctrl+alt+del.
