I'm a complete newbie to Litestep and had recently installed it. Unfortunately, my small brain cannot comprehend the weird shell, so I decided to uninstall it. When I did, it said I can remove the Litestep folder, so I did. Unfortunately when I did and restarted from there, the Windows XP shell doesn't even come up anymore. All I get is my previous background and nothing else.
My friend said there's a .ini file in windows I can edit to get back my windows shell. How do I do that?
I imagine if you do the opposite of what this thread says you should get explorer shell running again, no sweat. I was just reading this articles,
http://www.shell-shocked.org/article.php?id=133, which also informs you on how to manually switch shells.
Well, I read the link you gave me, and found the WindowsXP/NT manual way. Thanks for the link! But oddly, when I checked the registry, it said my shell was explorer.exe. Don't tell me Litestep overrode my WinXP shell and didn't back it up?
I've been trying hard to find a way to get back to my old shell in case I mess up Litestep, and I think I'm back to ground zero. :(
No it doesn't. And it's also a really bad idea to delete explorer.exe as some people suggest. :p Make sure you undo the registry tricks necessary to keep explorer from spawing as the shell, the DesktopProcess key etc. So again, do the opposite of what
this article says.
