I can't believe I let this happen.
Some how, When I quit litestep, I cannot return to the xp start bar.
Infact, nothing shows up, its just the background, nothing shows up anymore.
When I attempted to use a skin, I might have extracted it wrong. So now i cannot escape this problem.
How can I get my xp startbar back? This is really terrible.
Get to the Task Manager and run explorer.exe and it will pop back up. Or you could just go back into notepad and edit the step.rc and fix it.
Is there any detailed explanation on how to fix it? Anysite? I looked through the forum and didn't see much problems like this..
XP startbar is really terrible. Stay with litestep :-P

If you used in the Litestep installer, then you can uninstall via the standard windows add/remove utility.
Or if you want to get litestep running, then ask specific questions so people can help.
You can also just uninstall and reinstall litestep to get the default interface back, and go from there.
Well you see, the main problem is, when I quit litestep, I want my startbar to come back, because theres somethings that my litestep skin that doesn't work.
But the startbar won't come back. and I end up with nothing. So its not cool at all.
Try using a shell switcher. I believe LiteSpawn has a built-in feature that will cause it to pop up whenever the current shell is closed (ie, you quit LS) allowing you to select another shell. I haven't used it in a while, so... yeh.
shit good luck my friend... im trying to install litestep in my computer (im a new winxp user) and believe me i will not install lt until i make sure it works rigth on winxp...
works great on XP *shrug* don't know where all these people are having problems.
I thought that if you autoloaded LS, explorer never gets loaded in the first place. So when you quit LS, you're just left with the programs running when LS [the shell] quit. If you want to have an explorer taskbar after LS, try loading it manually, as suggested.
I've never actually seen the need for quitting litestep and then switching back to explorer ;), however a friend once wrote a sort of shell selector, letting you choose [autoexec.bat] wich shell to use when windows starts. Works, as for now, only on 9x though. It just replaces the 'shell=' line with an entry of your choice. On the other hand, it does do the trick, so....
I agree with dev. so long as you're using the classic logon, and disable themes (the windows theme service, not litestep themes), then you should have NO problems.
