You know you get the hotspots in the corners of the "Simplicity" theme? Well, I love them, except for when I'm playing games. Is it at all possible to switch them off for certain apps and leave them on for others? It's annoying when you're playing an RTS and you move the pointer to the corner to scroll around the map!

Any suggestions?

you can either modify the step.rc file for the theme
or you can use a different theme. Up to you pretty much.

While you're modifying the step.rc, instead of turning it off another method might be to change the configuration it so that an actual click is necessary in that hotspot.
I've been using the 'tenebrae' theme and that's what it does; admittedly in this case only for showing/hiding bars, but the idea could be applied to other themes.
Though it is possible that a click in the corner of the map would still bring it up, I can't really think of a game that needs actually-in-the-corner clicks.

Something I'm going to try for a theme I'm working on: Many modern themes have a button that hides the bars... perhaps one can also disable the hotspots while the bars are hidden? Worth a try.

Just add this to your popup menu to unload and reload the hotspots:

*Popup "Hotspots" Folder
*Popup "Hotspots On" !ReloadModule $ModulesDir$ckHotspots.dll
*Popup "Hotspots Off" !UnloadModule $ModulesDir$ckHotspots.dll
*Popup ~Folder

Change ckHotsots.dll to hotspots.dll if thats what module your using.
I've been doing this with games for awhile now, though some games don't cause a problem, also if the resolution for the game is smaller then your desktop area this won't happen.
Hope this helps.

Thanks all! I'll try them tonight. I'm not all that confident in editing these settings, but I suppose if I throw myself in at the deep end and start experimenting I might be able to understand whats going on. Whats the worst that could happen, eh?

And don't say "reformatting you're hard-drive!!! :D
