Separate Background DL's Thread last updated on 2003-02-10 05:42:19

Okay, I was just browsing at LSThemes and I was reflecting on the classical LS drawback. See if you can recall this:

I'm looking through these numerous themes thinking, "That'd be a great one with the background they have there," or "I love that background but I'm sure the author didn't include it in the theme .ZIP," or "Man, that's a good-sized DL. It's probably that background he used - and I didn't really even like it."

What if we had a separate file upload/download for the background used? I know, more complexity, perhaps an extra click here and there for users, but wouldn't that be nice? Some people have really good(and conversely, bad) wallpapers that you might want or not want.

So is this worthwhile or is it unfeasable?

If you want the background from a theme, contact the author for it, if it isn't in the archive. *shrug*

backgrounds shouldn't be included in archives, imo. nag the theme-author for it.

Yes, they should be included in the archives, along with the theme because most of the time [I think so at least] a background can 'make or break' the theme. The background often really is an integrated part of the theme, theme and background being a near perfect match and not including it would be like having only half the theme.
So there, that's why it should be included.

my stance is this:

if a theme is made around the wallpaper, then it should be included. also, if the wallpaper was made specifically to complement the theme, it shoudl be included.

however, if the author just included the wall because they liked it at the time (with permission from the author of course), then that is just stupid. they should link to where the wall was originally found in the readme or in the *.thm since it isn't integral to the theme and just ups the d/l size a good chunk.
